Where to File
Once you have met with an attorney from the Dobberstein Law Group and decided to proceed with your case, it will be filed with the Eighth Judicial District Court if it involves damages exceeding $10,000. For lesser sums, most cases are handled by the small claims division within the Las Vegas Township Justice Court.
Deadlines to File
Once you choose to pursue a personal injury case, do not procrastinate. In Las Vegas and other parts of Nevada, you will have two years from the date of your accident to file your case. However, if it involves medical malpractice, the statute of limitations can range from one to three years, depending on when you first became aware of the malpractice.
Recovering Damages
In a Las Vegas personal injury case, you are entitled to claim compensation for such damages as medical expenses, lost wages from being unable to work, and pain and suffering. Along with this, should the defendant’s actions against you be deemed extremely negligent by a judge or jury, punitive damages may also be awarded. To make sure you obtain the maximum amount of compensation you need and deserve, work closely with Vegas NV personal injury attorneys who have a track record of success with these cases.
